Iwent through this stage where I was convinced I was losing my Spanish, and so set up blind dates with a couple of Spanish girls who also live in Newcastle. I realised after meeting the first one, that it wasn't the need to speak Spanish that I had, but -and this is as cheesy as it gets, promise- my friends from back in Spain. The girls were really nice, and I'm sure I shall meet up with them again, but I think so far I am comfortable with the people I have met at the gallery and through volunteering -as well as at my one subject at college.
On a sidenote, a friend of Sheldon's came over for the weekend last week. We shall call her Belle*. We took her round the city centre and the Quayside, where she (and I) could take some nice snapshots of the place.
I also came across Saint George and the dragon. Saint George is the patron saint of England, but he is also the patron saint of Catalonia, so I am glad we share something as cultural and patriotic as that.
After dropping Belle* off at the train station, Sheldon and I went for a walk in a park near the centre, and ended up in what I can only describe as a forest, or a hell of a park.
I came across the Shoe Tree. It is an amazing thing to look at. What started as a fluke and maybe someone that wanted some luck to go their way, has become a tradition that hundreds of people have followed over time. I hope what they wished for came true!
